Solway Sk8ing Club enjoys success at Britannia Cup

Solway Sk8ing Club teams returned triumphant from competing in the Britannia Cup in Nottingham recently – lifting the championship title and breaking records along the way.

The Solway Stars team wowed the audience as they skated their beautiful and touching short programme, scoring 50.76, which wasn’t just a new personal best for the team but also a new British short programme record.

Solway Eclipse had a strong performance in the difficult mixed age category, placing second overall and earning a new season best score of 60.75.

Solway Lightning entertained the audience with their creative Ratatouille programme, earning a total score of 36.05, placing fifth overall in the competitive intermediate category.

Taking to the ice once again, Solway Stars skated their solid and powerful free programme, earning a new season’s best free programme score of 84.74 and a total score of 135.50 to retain the Junior ISU British Champion title for the third year running.

The club would like to thank coaches Molly Coxon, Gemma Fergusson and George Moorehead for all their support this season. Also a special mention to Holywood Trust, ANCBC and all the sponsors.

All three teams will be competing at the Trophy d’Ecosse this weekend at Dumfries Ice Bowl. The three-day event is known in the skating World as an ISU Challenger event and will be attended by both national and international teams.
