Soccer-Diego Martinez appointed coach of Espanyol
(Reuters) - Spanish La Liga outfit Espanyol have hired former Osasuna and Granada coach Diego Martinez as manager for the next two seasons, the club said on Tuesday.
Martinez, 41, spent three seasons with Granada, securing promotion to La Liga in 2019 and reaching the Europa League quarter-finals in 2021 before leaving at the end of the season.
He will replace Vicente Moreno who left in mid-May following a series of poor results that saw Espanyol finish in 14th place, four points shy of relegation.
