Soccer Aid: Which female stars are playing in the 2022 match?

This year’s Soccer Aid will feature the highest number of female players yet.

The London Stadium is playing host to the charity match between England and a World XI, with kick-off set for 7:30pm on June 12th.

In total, eight female celebrities and former players will join stars such as Usain Bolt, Sir Mo Farah, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Andrea Pirlo at the event, a major jump from the two women – Rachel Yankey and Katie Chapman – who made history in 2019.

GiveMeSport Women tells you everything you need to know about Soccer Aid’s female participants.

Emma Hayes

As assistant to Harry Redknapp, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes will have a managerial role at Soccer Aid. It is her first appearance at the event.

Hayes is the most successful manager in the Women’s Super League, winning five titles with the Blues. She has also earned four FA Cup and three League Cup titles since joining Chelsea in 2012.

Vicky McClure

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure is another member of England’s coaching team at Soccer Aid, joining Redknapp, Hayes and former goalkeeper David Seaman.

McClure told Good Morning Britain she was channelling Brian Clough.

“We’re looking sharp, we did a bit of training yesterday and I’m trying to channel my inner Brian Clough and say ‘if you need a beer, if that will help you play better, then do it, relax, we don’t want you injured for Sunday’.

“That’s what I’m bringing to the table and that’s going to do us proud.”
