Soccer Aid viewers complained they were struggling to hear what was happening on television

Fans watching from home were left distracted by the noise being made in the crowd at Old Trafford by people using vuvuzelas. The distinctive sound could be heard ahead of the game as Alex Scott and Dermot O'Leary introduced the show. And the noise continued after the game kicked off - which left some even calling for vuvuzelas to be banned from the stadium.

Taking to Twitter, @jamieeast said: "Can’t hear a bloody thing. Who the hell thought the vuvuzelas were a good idea?!"

The vuvuzelas, a type of horn, caught the attention of the global football community during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Following complaints about the noise a number of sporting organisations banned the use of the vuvuzela at future events and venues - including future World Cups.

Now in its 12th year, donations from Soccer Aid go to Unicef with money used to help give kids the best start in life.

Those turning out for England include Tom Hiddleston, Danny Dyer, Gary Neville, Gary Cahill, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Jack Wilshere, Jermain Defoe, Eni Aluko, Karen Carney, Scarlette Douglas, Alex Brooker, Chunkz, Tom Grennan, Sir Mo Farah, Bugzy Malone, Joel Corry, Asa Butterfield, Liam Payne, David James as professional goalkeeper and Paddy McGuinness as celebrity goalkeeper.
