Snow stops play as Kent play Lancashire in pre-season friendly at Canterbury

Just 17 deliveries were bowled in Kent's final pre-season warm-up match on Thursday - after snow stopped play!

Snow, sleet and rain all combined to thwart Kent and Lancashire at a chilly Canterbury as they count down to next week's County Championship season.

Kent lost skipper Jack Leaning for six during what play was possible while Ollie Robinson was only able to face one ball before the umpires took the players off with snow falling. An hour later, the weather conditions meant play was abandoned for the day.

On Wednesday, Kent bowlers Matt Milnes, Darren Stevens and Grant Stewart were all in the wickets as Lancashire declared on 169-4. Stevens then hit a typically quickfire 84 in 85 balls and Daniel Bell-Drummond retired out overnight on 75 during the two-day friendly.

Kent start their season against Essex in Chelmsford on Thursday, April 7.

Their first home game is against Lancashire at Canterbury from Thursday, April 14.
