Snoop Dogg Amazed By Reds Star Elly De La Cruz: 'Rocket In His Pocket'

It's easy to grow accustomed to how unbelievably talented and athletic Major League Baseball players are, but for those unfamiliar, it can be a surprising experience.

One of those unfamiliar individuals on Saturday afternoon was rapper and performer Snoop Dogg. Snoop threw out the first pitch before the Milwaukee Brewers matchup against the Cincinnati Reds, then joined the Brewers broadcast booth during the game.

And in the bottom of the second inning, he was blown away by just how good Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz is at throwing across the diamond. Brice Turang of the Brewers hit a grounder deep into the hole between short and third, forcing De La Cruz to range away from the middle of the diamond. With Turang's speed and the fact that De La Cruz had to throw across his body to get him at first, Snoop said "Oh he's safe, he can't throw that, he ain't got no arm like that…"

Sure enough, De La Cruz made the play look easy, with a strong, accurate throw to first, prompting a "No he don't!" from Snoop. Followed by another, sadder "no he don't."

But as the announcers said, he sure does.

Snoop continued, "Who is that with that rocket?!" After being told it was Elly De La Cruz, he delievered the line of the day, "Oh lord…he got a rocket in his pocket."

De La Cruz has one of the best arms in baseball, with an average throwing speed of over 91 mph. On top of his "rocket" arm, he has some of the biggest power in the sport; last year he hit a ball over 119 mph and averages 91 mph in exit velo this year.
