Snapshot of round nine of the AFLW season

THEY SAID IT: "It has been a tough week with what people have gone through in Brisbane, particularly Bre (Koenen) and Emily (Bates) having their houses inundated" - Lions coach Craig Starcevich praised the resilience of his players after they were personally affected by the floods in southeast Queensland.

PLAYER OF THE ROUND: Daisy Pearce made headlines during the week after it was revealed the Melbourne captain was entertaining offers, headlined by Geelong, to become an assistant coach in men's programs. But the women's football pioneer put the talk to aside, booting a career-high five goals in the Demons' eighth win of the season.

STATS THAT MATTER: The Brisbane Lions' AFLW landmarks stood for less than a week, with Melbourne breaking all sorts of records in their extraordinary demolition of Fremantle. The Demons crushed the depleted Dockers by 88 points, the largest margin in AFLW history, and became the first women's team to break the 100-point barrier with a final score of 16.11 (107).

TALKING POINT: The premiership race appears to be down to three teams. The Demons and Lions both produced dominant and ominous victories to consolidate their positions in the top-three. Adelaide were less convincing, holding on in a thriller against Collingwood, but have the talent and experience to again go all the way in the finals series.
