'Smart' - Sky Sports man reacts to big transfer news; says Ange target will now 'choose' Celtic

Pundit Kevin Campbell believes Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will make his loan move at Celtic permanent in the summer, Football Insider report.

The Hoops have the option to make the centre-back’s stay a full time one at the end of the season for an initial £6m. The American has impressed under Ange Postecoglou in Glasgow, which has resulted in interest from a number of Premier League sides.

Sources close to the player suggested that Leicester City and Wolves are now keen on the player’s services ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The Scottish Sun also shared an update in the week, suggesting the 24-year-old isn’t in Antonio Conte’s Tottenham plans but is wanted by Bournemouth and Watford.

Campbell, who contributes for Sky Sports, was quizzed on Carter-Vickers by Football Insider in a story shared on Friday morning following the updates regarding Premier League interest.

He thinks the defender will now choose Celtic, labelling it as a ‘smart’ decision.

“Carter-Vickers has done exceptionally well at Celtic.

“Sometimes, as a centre-half, you have to go for a club that’s the right fit. I think he fits Celtic perfectly.

“There is going to be interest from Premier League clubs but there’s no guarantees if you make that move.

“Right now, he is starting every week at a huge club. If they win the league they will be playing in the Champions League next season. Celtic ticks a lot of boxes right now.

“I think he’ll choose to stay and that would be the smart move. Wherever else he goes there will be a lot more competition for the centre-back spot. Staying would be the right choice in my eyes.”
