Sky Sports pundit delivers prediction ahead of Middlesbrough’s trip to QPR

David Prutton is expecting a close game between Queens Park Rangers and Middlesbrough tonight in what is a huge fixture for both.

The appointment of Chris Wilder has transformed Boro, with the Teesside outfit heading to the capital having won seven of their last nine league games, whilst they knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup last time out.

However, it won’t be easy against an R’s side that are unbeaten in six in the Championship and are firmly in the race for a top two finish.

Therefore, most neutrals see this as a tough one to call and, writing in his regular Sky Sports prediction column, Prutton went for a draw.

“What a position QPR find themselves in. They are picking up points at an incredible rate under Mark Warburton, and with games in hand on Blackburn and Bournemouth stuttering a little, you just never know.

“This is a tough test. Middlesbrough will be riding high off the back of that win at Manchester United and are charging up the table themselves. With the shape both sides are in, I have to go for a draw. 1-1.”

The verdict

This is a huge game between two in-form, quality sides and the result is going to have a big impact on the promotion race.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see Prutton go for a draw, and most will agree that there’s not going to be much between the two, so it would be a huge surprise if either side did win comfortably.

So, it will be intriguing to see how it plays out on what is undoubtedly one of the standout fixtures in the Championship this evening.
