Sky Sports man hints Levy may upset Kane as Spurs could get new 'top earner'

Presenter Joe Thomlinson has been speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel about whether or not signing Paulo Dybala would be good for Tottenham Hotspur.

A few years ago, it appeared that Dybala would be swapping Juventus for Tottenham Hotspur when fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm, however, a problem with the attacker’s image rights saw a deal called off at the last minute.

Now though, a move could be back on as Spurs are being linked with Dybala once again as he’s set to leave as a free agent this summer, with himself and Juventus unable to come to an agreement on a new contract.

However, Thomlinson doesn’t believe Spurs should be looking to sign Dybala this summer, even with him arriving without a transfer fee.

He said: “I think the top earner at Tottenham Hotspur is Harry Kane on £200,000 a week, I think if he saw Paulo Dybala come through the door to match his current wage or even increase it – let’s say he came in at £250,000 – I think that would be a problem straight away for a player who is not a nailed-on starter.”

In January, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici moved to secure the double signing of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, and the latter has had an enormous impact already with two goals and four assists in seven league starts.

Therefore, if Tottenham can make his loan deal a permanent one, as well as already having the deadly pairing of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, there would arguably be little room for someone like Dybala, unless he was willing to not be a guaranteed starter – and for the wages he’d likely demand, that wouldn’t make sense from a financial point of view, either.
