Sky Sports man fuming over ‘poor’ behind-scenes Leeds decision

Leeds United are currently looking likely to be relegated to the Championship with the Whites having just one game to save their season. Jesse Marsch’s side currently sit in 17th spot having played a game more than their rivals.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has blamed the lack of transfer activity on the club being in such a perilous position and feels it was an opportunity missed in January when they didn’t sign any first-team players despite the injury problems.

Leeds were able to stop the rot on Sunday afternoon, however, the single point will not exactly fill their fans full of confidence over their Premier League survival.

With a crunch clash against Brentford coming up next week, the Sky Sports pundit has been speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News and has had the following to say:

“It’s not the injuries that will cost them, it’ll be the lack of transfer activity that will cost them. We’ve known that Phillips and Bamford have been out for a length of time but they didn’t sign anybody in January.

“If you look at the transfer activity, it’s been poor. The strength in depth in the squad is nowhere near what it should be and if Leeds do go down, it’s simply down to the lack of investment in the squad.”

TIF thoughts on Robinson’s comments…

We’ve got no doubt that Leeds should have made signings in January as they were desperate for depth to the first team. We knew in January the severity of the injury crisis at the club, so to not act on that is criminal and will be a major factor in Leeds’ relegation should they go down.

With a lot riding on the final game of the campaign, it will be interesting to see how much the board of the blame is put in the direction of the board in what has been a turbulent campaign
