Known by millions as the "Nightingale of India", she died on Sunday aged 92 after suffering from Covid-19. Her instantly recognisable songs were a permanent feature of Bollywood since the 1940s and were heard in more than 1,000 films. Mangeshkar came to symbolise the voice of a nation.
