Six Nations news LIVE as WRU consider Warren Gatland's future

The second round of the 2025 Six Nations is done and dusted and Wales, yet again, find themselves licking their wounds after another embarrassing defeat.

After being thumped 43-0 on the opening night of the Championship, fans were expecting a big response from Warren Gatland's side in Rome on Saturday, with the Italy fixture a must-win for a number of reasons. Not only would it finally put a stop to a losing run that stood at 13 Test matches prior to kick-off, but it would also help them in their bid to avoid a second successive tournament whitewash and the dreaded wooden spoon.

But after another limp, confused display that ended in a 22-15 defeat, that losing streak has been extended to 14 Tests, with Wales already staring down the barrel at another winless Six Nations and dropping to 12th - below Tier 2 Georgia - in the World Rugby rankings.

After the latest and perhaps biggest embarrassment of a largely woeful 18 months, Warren Gatland's future as Wales coach now looks to be hanging by a thread, with a host of pundits, former players and even coaches admitting his time is up. WRU bosses are sure to be discussing the issue behind the scenes with change likely at the end of the tournament, if not sooner.

There are no matches next weekend as all of the teams enjoy a rest week but as the fallout continues from another eventful round, it could prove to be a massive week away from the field.
