Sir Alex Ferguson's treatment of Gabriel Heinze shows why Liverpool can't sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson's treatment of Manchester United's Gabriel Heinze shows exactly why Liverpool will not be able to sign Marcus Rashford.

Manchester Evening News understands that Rashford is considering his future at Old Trafford after an underwhelming season at United. Speculation has seen Barcelona and Arsenal linked with the forward however there is one club with Reds fans would hate to see him leave for.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are reportedly interested in the United academy graduate and Klopp has previously spoken highly of Rashford. He previously said: "It's a really good mix, the offensive potential they (England) have.

"I don't know if you still consider - I don't know exactly, how old is Marcus Rashford? 21, 22, 23? He looks quite young, meanwhile, he is very experienced."

However, when Heinze wanted to move to Anfield, Sir Alex made sure he blocked the move. In his autobiography, Ferguson said: "Gabriel was told, with no ambiguity, that historically Manchester United do not sell players to Liverpool, and vice versa."

Heinze's agent reportedly tried to get Crystal Palace to sign Heinze before selling him to Liverpool in order to get the Argentine to Anfield. However, Palace's chairman at the time Simon Jordan refused the deal.
