Sir Alex Ferguson's Jordan Henderson remark surprised me - It could've been damaging
Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers demanded that Sir Alex Ferguson apologise to Jordan Henderson after the Manchester United legend shared why he snubbed the midfielder.
Ferguson had been monitoring Henderson's progress as the young talent made a name for himself at Sunderland. Under the guidance of United legend Steve Bruce, Henderson's impressive displays did not go unnoticed by Ferguson or arch-rivals Liverpool.
In 2011, Henderson made the switch to Merseyside and went on to captain the club to success under Jurgen Klopp, winning the Premier League and Champions League. The midfielder will not have many regrets about his time at Anfield, but Ferguson's claims about why he felt Henderson might struggle to make the grade incurred the wrath of Liverpool boss Rodgers.

"We looked at Jordan Henderson a lot and Steve Bruce was unfailingly enthusiastic about him," Ferguson wrote in his 2013 autobiography. "Against that, we noticed that Henderson runs from his knees, with a straight back, while the modern footballer runs from his hips. We thought his gait might cause him problems later in his career."
As a 13-time Premier League winner, Ferguson was an expert at identifying top players, though he was arguably proven wrong about Henderson. However, the midfielder had a challenging beginning to his Liverpool career, starting 16 league games the season before Ferguson's book was published. Rodgers believed that Ferguson's verdict could damage then-23-year-old Henderson's prospects.
