Sir Alex Ferguson: Man Utd legend still earns a staggering amount every week

Sir Alex Ferguson retired from management nine years ago, yet the legendary Manchester United boss still earns the equivalent of £235,000-per-week to this day.

It was way back in 2013 when Ferguson finally hung up his managerial gloves and called time on his 26-year tenure at Old Trafford.

Of course, his time there was legendary, earning him worldwide status as the greatest manager the Premier League has ever seen.

But it seems the fact that he has been out of the game for so long has done little to hamper the salary of the 80-year-old Scotsman, who according to The Sun, earnt a mind-boggling £12.2 million last year alone.

Not a bad pension, ey?

All of that comes from multiple income streams, most notably his book deals and investments. Although, he also gets paid a pretty penny for the odd public appearance, not to mention, the £2 million-per-year salary for being an ambassador to Manchester United.

That involves around 20 working days each year and being a regular at home games – not that being far from Manchester United has ever really been a problem for Fergie, if anything it’s been argued that he’s been too involved with the club since his departure.

Another investment Ferguson has always been well known for is horse racing. The ex-Manchester United boss has long been involved in the game, winning the Betway Bowl at the Aintree meeting last year, along with two other featured races.

In total the wins netted £169,000 for himself and connections leading to Fergie branding it his “best day in racing.”

No doubt he’ll be hoping for more of the same because it just so happens that his horses are back in action at Aintree today, a year after they last won the races.
