Singapore crash out of badminton mixed team semis after loss to India in Commonwealth Games

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s badminton players lost 3-0 to India in the mixed team event of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, on Monday (Aug 1).

Terry Hee Yong Kai and Andy Kwek Jun Liang went up against India’s Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty in the men’s doubles, but were beaten 0-2 (11-21, 12-21).

In the women’s singles, Yeo Jia Min lost to Venkata Sindhu Pusarla, going down in two games - 11-21, 12-21.

Loh Kean Yew couldn't find his groove in the men's singles either, losing to Lakshya Sen 18-21, 15-21.

Following the loss, Singapore will now go up against England for the bronze medal on Tuesday.

The final will see India take on Malaysia, who beat England 3-0 in their semi-final encounter.
