‘Simple’ point made as Jacob Ramsey misses out on England place

Jacob Ramsey has been overlooked by England manager Gareth Southgate for the upcoming round of internationals.

The Three Lions face Switzerland and Ivory Coast later this month as part of the build-up to the Qatar World Cup at the end of the year. Ramsey is enjoying an excellent season and has flourished under Steve Gerrard.

But that form hasn’t been enough for him to secure a place in the England squad, for now. Villa centre-back Tyrone Mings has been picked.

Explaining his decision to omit Ramsey, Southgate said: “I think Jacob is doing really well. I think at this moment in time Conor Gallagher is slightly ahead.

“They are both pushing Jude [Bellingham], who has been in our squad for a while. Those two are really pushing Jude, there’s no doubt about that, and pushing some of the older players in that group as well.

“That’s an area where Curtis Jones is also emerging at Liverpool. There are some good attacking midfield players that are good at pressing the opposition and look like they can take goals as well.”

Gallagher is ahead of JJ, so is JWP, and then Bellingham, Rice, Mount and Hendo are obviously nailed on. He's in great form, he's gotta keep doing it to get a call-up. Simple.

Ramsey will get there in the end and will likely be involved in a Grealish-like transfer saga too.

Too early for JJ but plenty of time.

Ramsay misses out after all pundits are raving about him. What is it with Southgate n villa players, he used to play for us..

Just need to knuckle down stop making silly mistakes.
