Shoppers say it's time to 'boycott big brands' over 'disgusting' price of Tesco's Bisto

Shoppers are urging households to 'boycott big brands' amid 'disgusting' supermarket prices.

Everyone knows that products have shot up during the cost of living crisis, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet.

But customers are accusing some of the bigger brands of taking advantage and 'profiteering' from the situation.

One shopper shared a photo of a tub of Bisto costing £5.80 at Tesco over the weekend and said: "This is getting absolutely ridiculous now! I certainly won't be entertaining them."

Hundreds of people reacted to her post, in a budgeting Facebook group, with many of them saying it's time to ditch the bigger brands.

"Just the big brands profiteering," said one. "Boycott 'em and see the price fall quick smart! Til then by cheaper brands that often taste fab in comparison. Time the public says enough is enough."

"If everyone boycotts the brands at inflated prices, they will soon bring the prices down," said another.

And a third added: "We will have to get through to them through our wallets. If we don't buy these products at such extortionate prices they will have to reduce the price. I for one will avoid branded goods opting for shops own brand."

Others said the same has happened with Heinz, with one shopper saying: "Have you seen the price of Heinz Ketchup? Over a fiver a bottle it’s a bloody disgrace."

One customer described the increases from Heinz and Bisto manufacturer Premier Foods as 'just crazy'.

"When prices do eventually stabilise and fall I won't be buying their products again, nor Heinz," she said.
