Shocking video footage shows youths hurling lit fireworks at houses in Bury, leaving many families 'frightened in their own homes'. The recent reports of anti-social behaviour has prompted police to issue a dispersal order in the Fishpool area, near the town centre, for two days.

Local councillor Tamoor Tariq, who is also a resident, said families have been left 'frightened in their own homes' by the terror and branded the behaviour 'completely unacceptable'. He added the last two nights have been 'among the worst' he has ever known in the area.

Greater Manchester Police have issued the dispersal order, granting them the powers to break up groups of people if they believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance or distress. Lit fireworks have been set off towards houses and cars, with eggs also being thrown at properties in recent weeks.

The dispersal order begun at 2.30pm on Thursday (September 1) until the same time on Saturday. It applies around Gigg Lane, Alfred Street, Heywood Street, Wash Lane, Peel Way, Jubilee Way and Manchester Road.

Councillor Tariq said: "The last few nights in the Fishpool area have been amongst the worst I have known. The significant levels of ASB, with the use of fireworks being thrown at properties and passing cars, around Wellington Road, Grosvenor Street and Parkhill’s Road is completely unacceptable.

"For the last two nights I have been with residents past midnight out on the streets trying to provide support and reassurance. It is the right move by GMP to issue dispersal orders, there are many vulnerable families often with young children who are now frightened in their own homes.
