The same happened against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup – although that ended with a defeat on penalties.

And in midweek, it happened against Burnley in the Premier League.

Che Adams’ equaliser at Old Trafford for Southampton was predictable.

Three disappointing results that have left United out of the FA Cup and losing ground in the race to finish in the top-four.

But it’s not for a lack of missing chances, that’s for sure.

The Red Devils have had 64 shots against Middlesbrough, Burnley and Southampton and have scored just three goals.
