Shelbourne exit Champions League after Valur defeat

Valur 3-0 Shelbourne

Shelbourne exited the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat to Icelandic side Valur in the Mestni Štadion in Slovenia.

Cyera Makenzie Hintzen opened the scoring on 20 minutes, tapping home after the ball came off the crossbar.

Sólveig Jóhannesdóttir Larsen doubled the lead just before the break in a half which saw Shels pick up a number of yellow cards which they were felt aggrieved about.

The tie was ended as a contest just seconds into the second half as Leah Doyle unfortunately put the ball into her own net.

Amanda Budden was sent off in stoppage time to compound the defeat for Shels as Valur move on to the next stage of the competition.

The Dubliners will return to action in the Women's National League on Saturday against Galway as they look to return to Europe again next year, currently sitting top of the table, two points clear of Wexford.
