Sheffield Wednesday to subsidise MK Dons coach travel after Owls fans fumes at fixture change

Sheffield Wednesday have announced that the club will subsidise coach travel for fans making the trip to MK Dons on Saturday, April 16. This comes after Owls fans made their feelings known after the fixture was rescheduled, the game was originally scheduled for 3pm on Good Friday but Sky Sports have picked the game for live broadcast the following day instead.

The change has disrupted fans’ plans for travel as the much later kick off has a knock-on effect on fans making the trip to watch the game. Wednesday have now released a statement explaining the gesture.

“Following the Owls’ rescheduled Easter fixture programme, we are pleased to announce subsidised coach travel for our trip to MK Dons on Saturday 16 April," the statement read. "The League One clash was originally scheduled for Good Friday before selection for live broadcast by Sky Sports.

"Consequently, our home game against Crewe set for Easter Monday was also pushed back, to Tuesday 19 April. The club and our supporters are significantly impacted by this disruption, a situation outside of our control.

"We are also aware of transport restrictions over the Easter period and have reduced MK Dons coach travel to the lowest possible price point. Tickets are now just £25, down from £36, with the club subsidising the difference. Both coach tickets and match tickets will be on sale from Monday - thank you for your support.”

MK Dons vs Sheffield Wednesday will be shown live on Sky Sports for fans who are not traveling to watch the game.
