'She's going to work still to pay bills... she shouldn't be worrying about finances given what's happened'

A mum has been given a terminal diagnosis after a devastating screening.

Kellie Haury, 38, has been battling breast cancer since she was first diagnosed in April 2020. But when she started chemotherapy to fight the disease, doctors discovered she was allergic to the treatment.

However, it still ended being successful and she went into remission and returned to work at a local pharmacy, the Liverpool Echo reports. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and two sons, Dillon, 19, and Lewis, 17.

But tragically, the disease soon returned. When she went for a routine mammogram, doctors discovered the cancer had returned to her chest wall and that surgery was no longer an option as it was too close to her vital organs to remove. The disease had also spread to her lymph nodes, her spine and brain, they found.

Kellie now has six tumours on her brain and devastatingly has been told her cancer is terminal. Speaking to the ECHO, Kellie's close friend Lynsey Bate said she was "in a state of shock over it" when she was told the news. Kellie is no longer permitted to drive, which, according to Lynsey, has been a "huge blow" to her friend.

Lynsey said: "Kellie has always been hard working and very independent. I've known her since we were at school together at St Cuthbert's. She's a strong person and not one to feel sorry for herself, but she's in a bad way. She's in pain in her back and with headaches. She had radiotherapy last week and she's not too good at the minute."

Lynsey is trying to raise funds for Kellie so she can make the most of the time she has left with her family. She said: "I could see her going to work every day and worrying about paying her bills. I said to her, 'why are you doing it?' and she said, 'I've got
