Sharks v Scarlets Live: Kick-off time, TV details, team news and match updates

The Scarlets will make history this evening when they take part in the first cross-continent United Rugby Championship match to be played in South Africa.

They were originally due to face the Sharks at Kings Park back in November, with a game against the Bulls the following week.

But both of those fixtures were postponed due to South Africa being placed on the UK red Covid travel list due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant and the Scarlets ended up having to go through an extended period of hotel isolation.

Now they are back in Durban for a game against a far stronger Sharks side than the one they would have faced in November.

The hosts have 10 Springboks on board, including World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi, prop Ox Nche, hooker Bongi Mbonambi and winger Makazole Mapimpi.

With Rhys Patchell out with a calf injury, Sam Costelow takes over at fly-half for the Scarlets, with the versatile Corey Baldwin coming in on the wing for his first appearance since breaking his foot in pre-season.

The game is live on BBC2 Wales and Premier Sports, but if you can’t get in front of a screen you can follow all the action via our live blog.
