Shane Warne’s final moments in Thai villa revealed on social media before his shock death

Cricketing legend Shane Warne said a final goodnight to the world on Friday evening, posting “Goodnight from Samujana Villas in Koh Samui” with an image of a swimming pool.

Shortly after, he was reportedly found unresponsive on the floor of the Thai villa by one of his friends, and is suspected to have died of a heart attack at the age of 52.

His friend had come to ask Warnie to join him for a meal but was unable to revive the cricketing great.

“When we arrived at the location, we saw the victim lying on the lower floor.” Ambulance worker Kittichai Huadmueang said.

“The friend carried him downstairs and performed CPR. We requested help from Thai International Hospital to transfer him there, but we were told later that the man has passed away.”

Thai police revealed Warne’s body had been taken for an autopsy, but an Ambulance worker on the scene said there were no signs of a suspicious death.

“From what we could observe, there was no wound, no sign of struggle,” Mr Huadmueang said.

“The room was in normal condition. Everything looked normal, as if the victim was just sleeping in the room, kept cool and comfortable with the air conditioning on.”

His death came no later than 24 hours after that of fellow Australia cricket legend Rod Marsh, who Warne himself had only just publicly paid tribute to.

“He was a legend of our great game and an inspiration to so many young girls and boys. Rod cared deeply about cricket and gave so much,” Warne posted on Instagram, “RIP mate.”

Warne was Australia’s greatest-ever bowlers and arguably the country’s second-greatest cricketer in history behind Don Bradman.
