Shane Lowry soars in Florida to share second place at Honda Classic
A second successive saw Shane Lowry move up the Honda Classic leaderboard in a four-way share of second place, but Daniel Berger takes a commanding five-shot lead into the final round at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
FULL LEADERBOARD
With little movement on 'moving day' as scores hovered around par, the 34-year-old carded the lowest third round score to shoot up the leaderboard.
The Offaly man made a flying start, with two birdies in the opening four holes, the second at the par-four fourth coming after a superb 90-yard approach iron.
A wayward tee shot at the seventh led to the only dropped shot of the day, but Lowry recovered well to pick up shots at 11 and 12 to sit at six-under par alongside Austria's Sepp Straka and American pair Chris Kirk and Kurt Kitayama.
Berger however remains the man to catch. After successive 65s, the 28-year-old shot a 69 that included two birdies and a bogey.
The Florida native, one of the highest-ranked players [No 21] in the Honda field, would have had half a dozen shots to spare starting the final round but for the bogey that came at the last.
The tournament winner will take home a first prize of $1.44m (€1.24m) out of an $8m (€7.1m) purse.
