Shane Lowry makes cut at Wyndham Championship

Shane Lowry has made the cut at the Wyndham Championship after a second-round 69.

The Offaly man is three under, just outside the top 40 and two shots inside the projected cut mark in North Carolina.

Lowry started well with a birdie on four, which he later followed up with further gains on seven and eight.

But the Sedgefield Country Club's back nine proved much more challenging for the 2019 Open winner.

Bogeys on 11 and 14 pushed him back down the leaderboard but he bounced back immediately with a birdie on 15.

However, that progress was immediately dented by a double bogey on the par-3 16th. But he ensured an under-par round with a birdie on the 18th.

Russell Henley leads the way on 12 under with fellow American Billy Horschel one shot further back.

Canada's Adam Svensson, South Korea's Byeong Hun An and US duo Lucas Glover and Brendon Todd are tied for third on 10 under.
