Shane Lowry facing narrow exit at Wyndham Championship

A second-round 68 saw Shane Lowry finish one shot outside the cut at the halfway point of the Wyndham Championship.

After an opening round 71, the Offaly man had it all to do, but after a steady start of four successive pars, an eagle at the fifth had him moving in the right direction.

Bogeys at 9 and 12 followed, and while the 35-year-old gave himself plenty of birdie opportunities on the back nine, he struggled somewhat with the putter.

Ultimately, he could only take two of them. On the last he had a five-footer that would have been enough to make the cut at two-under par, but a bogey finish meant he had to settle for a round of 68.

Lowry's fate wasn’t sealed there and then, as play was suspended due to inclement weather before the second round of action was completed.

Four players are left to complete their second rounds on Saturday morning when the cut will be confirmed.

A stellar round of 64 propelled South Korea's Joohyung Kim into a share of the lead at the halfway mark.

Kim recovered from an early bogey to pick up seven shots, including three from his final four holes, to join Americans Brandon Wu and Ryan Moore at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under par.

Moore and Wu recorded just one bogey each en route to second round scores of 66 and 67 respectively.

The leaders sit one shot ahead of Russell Henley, John Huh and Sungjae Im, with the top nine players separated by just two strokes.
