'Severe' M4 traffic delays after crash near Tredegar Park - latest updates

There are "severe" traffic delays on the M4 in South Wales this morning. (Tuesday, December 20). The problems are being caused by a collision during the early hours.

The delays are on the westbound carriageway between junction 27 High Cross and junction 28 Tredegar Park, near Newport. Traffic Wales is describing the severity of the disruption on its website as "severe".

The incident was first recorded at 12.34am. Google Maps indicates that the crash took place on the stretch of the motorway that runs parallel with Western Avenue.

It also shows slow-moving traffic on that section at around 1am. A tweet from Traffic South Wales at 12.36am read: "#M4 : Westbound : J27 High Cross to J28 Tredegar Park : Accident : Delays #TrafficWalesAlert"

No further details have been released at this stage.
