Seven teenagers arrested following spate of knifepoint robberies

Seven teenagers have been arrested following a spate of knifepoint robberies in south Manchester.

Victims were subjected to terrifying and 'violent' attempts to steal items in Longsight, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said. One victim's clothes were slashed during the incident as he was threatened at knifepoint.

Officers have now arrested seven teenagers aged between 14 and 17 on suspicion of robbery, with several simultaneous arrests made in the early hours of the morning across Longsight, Reddish, Davenport, Openshaw, and Bury.

Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald of GMP’s City of Manchester Central Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “We had several robberies reported to us, the victims were all subjected to violence in an attempt to steal items with one of the victim having been threatened at knife point and his clothing slashed with a knife luckily he escaped with no injuries"
