Seth Trimble becomes Louisville's latest high-profile transfer - ESPN

Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has committed to Louisville, he told ESPN, giving the Cardinals another marquee piece for the 2026-27 season.

Trimble, who entered the transfer portal in the spring, had the door opened to play next season following a Colorado district court ruling that gave class of 2022 high schoolers a fifth season of college eligibility.

That eligibility is not certain. The NCAA has pushed back hard against the ruling and made clear it's not going to issue a blanket waiver, meaning that Trimble and the rest of the class of 2022 players granted eligibility will need the U.S Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit to uphold the injunction.

Trimble told Thamel that he considers North Carolina «home» and appreciated his time there but that a roster logjam led to him looking to play elsewhere. He averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game for North Carolina last season and scored 971 career points in 126 games over four seasons for the Tar Heels.

He played in five Las Vegas Summer League games for the Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. He did not, however, sign an NBA contract, leaving the window of college eligibility open for him.

There is precedent for college players, such as George Mason's James Nnaji, a Baylor transfer, participating in summer league and returning to college.

Assuming the Colorado ruling holds up, Trimble joins a high-wattage lineup that includes ESPN No. 2 overall transfer Flory Bidunga, No. 11 transfer Jackson Shelstad, No. 60 Alvaro Folgueiras and No. 69 Karter Knox.
