Sergio Aguero is coming out of sporting retirement - to become a racing driver.
The Manchester City legend, who stands as the club’s all-time top scorer, is set to join a host of well-known personalities in Formula E's new Evo Sessions.
The programme will put 11 celebrity figures into the driver's seat of one of the planet's most advanced race cars. Aguero joins Brooklyn Beckham and actor Lucien Laviscount as the first names announced for the series.
Aguero will be paired with a Formula E team and begin an arduous six-week training regime that includes simulator sessions, engineering debriefs, and rigorous physical training, all before even hitting the track.
The Argentine, who scored a record 260 times for City, will test his mettle at a two-day competitive event taking place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on March 5 and 6.
Formula E's latest Gen3 Evo car boasts blistering speeds, capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 1.82 seconds, outpacing F1 cars by 30%, reports the Mirror.
Documenting every twist and turn, Aguero's adventure from pitch to paddock will be chronicled for his fans via his own and Formula E’s social platforms, culminating in aa documentary to be released later in 2025.
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, said: "The initial reaction when I presented the concept of 'Evo Sessions' to our teams and partners was 'this is wild', which is when I immediately knew we had to bring it to life.
