Sergio Aguero makes Bernardo Silva admission amid Barcelona interest in Man City star

Sergio Aguero has said he would be surprised if Manchester City sell Bernardo Silva to Barcelona this summer, but has admitted that anything is possible.

The future of Bernardo is quickly becoming one of the transfer sagas of the summer, with countless reports linking the Portuguese midfielder with a move to Spanish giants Barca. One report earlier this week even claimed that the two clubs had agreed a deal worth around £46m, but City denied this and insisted that they have received no offers for the player.

Bernardo's contribution to City's success in recent years cannot be understated, with Pep Guardiola's side winning four Premier League titles since he joined from Monaco five years ago.

Few know Bernardo's game better than Aguero, City's all-time leading goalscorer who spent four seasons playing alongside the diminutive midfielder. Aguero himself joined Barcelona for a brief spell after leaving City in 2021 but would be surprised if City allowed Bernardo to make a similar move.

"Bernardo is a great player. He carries the ball, he sacrifices, has quality to assist and score goals and he can play in different positions," Aguero said while speaking to Stake.

"It would surprise me if City let him go. He is a player who contributes a lot every season, but everything is possible," he said. "If he finally arrives at Barca, then he will be someone who can be key to the possession game that Xavi likes."

Although Bernardo did ask to leave City in the summers of 2020 and 2021 due to personal reasons, he is now understood to be much happier with life in Manchester. However, in a recent interview with ESPN, he didn't rule out leaving
