Sellars eyeing new Wolves target in 'excellent' rising star with 'old head on young shoulders'

Wolves are reportedly interested in signing AFC Wimbledon midfielder Jack Rudoni, although other Premier League clubs are also keen on a move.

It was a quiet January transfer window for Bruno Lage but the summer is likely to be busier, with both incomings and outgoings expected at Molineux.

With Joao Moutinho now 35 years of age and Ruben Neves linked with a move away from Wolves, midfield could be an area that is seen as key one to improve in.

A fresh rumour suggests technical director Scott Sellars could be looking further down the leagues for young English talent.

According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are one of three Premier League clubs eyeing up a summer move for Rudoni, with Leeds United and Burnley also mentioned.

It is stated that Sellars and co have ‘actively scouted’ the Wimbledon man, who has scored seven goals and chipped in with three assists in League One this season.

Rudoni may not be a household name outside of Wimbledon but he is a gifted young talent who has been described as ‘excellent’ by manager Mark Robinson, while former coach Glyn Hodges called him an ‘old head on young shoulders’, perhaps implying he has the technique and coolness in midfield to replace the likes of Moutinho long term.

As mentioned, Wolves’ midfield could do with some freshening up at the end of the season and the youngster is someone who Lage could mould into a key man over several seasons.

Rudoni’s tally of 12 goals and 11 assists in 91 appearances for Wimbledon is impressive for a midfielder, especially one so young, and it would be a sign of intent if Sellars can beat rival clubs to his signature.

In other news, Tim Spiers has made a Wolves transfer claim regarding one player. Find out who it is here.
