Secret weapon: Celtic supporters surely excited as footage emerges - opinion

Celtic fans will be feeling pretty excited after seeing Karamoko Dembele show great skill to provide an assist in a recent academy game.

Earlier this week, the Bhoys’ B team played their Old Firm rivals in the Glasgow Cup but could not progress to the final. The game ended all square at 2-2 before eventually losing on penalties.

Despite the defeat, one incident would have really caught the eye of many Celtic supporters. Indeed, during the second half, Dembele showed exceptional pace, awareness and technical ability to drive from inside his own half, past a number of Rangers players and into the box before calmly setting up teammate Ben Summers, who found the back of the net.

The footage was shared online by journalist Ryan McGinlay and it’s plain to see just what a top prospect the 19-year-old seems to be.

TIF Thoughts on Karamoko Dembele and Celtic…

Up to this point in the season, Dembele has been limited to just 20 minutes of senior football, but supporters could be seeing more of him in the near future if he continues showing his talent as he did in this most recent highlight and keeps himself fit.

In fact, upon seeing the footage, McGinlay even called for the teen to be included in the club’s first team, saying he should have been an option in the Celtic squad during their recent Old Firm loss in the Scottish Cup.

Despite his young age, Dembele does have 10 senior appearances for the Bhoys across his career to date, but is yet to break into the team with any regularity. No doubt, he’ll be desperate to prove his worth at academy level with more stunning displays that could eventually see him become a more frequent option for Ange Postecoglou.
