Sebastian Vettel hoping for upgrade insight at French GP

Sebastian Vettel says he is hopeful the French Grand Prix weekend is going to allow Aston Martin to learn a little bit more about the upgrades that they initially brought to Silverstone at the start of July.

The team in British Racing Green has had a tough season so far but they are working hard and continuing to bring new parts in a bid to close back up towards the midfield pack.

Indeed, we saw them make a big change for the Spanish Grand Prix and then add further updates for Silverstone, though it’s clear they are still working on ironing out some of the issues with the package.

And that said, Seb is hoping that some answers can be found this weekend at Paul Ricard.

Speaking in the press conference here at the French Grand Prix, the four-time world champion said:

“I am looking forward. We brought an update to Silverstone that we didn’t fully get on top of and maybe this weekend will help us to get a few more answers.

“I hope we can get more competitive to get back into the midfield and therefore that bit more back in the mix. The track is not the most exciting track in the world but it’s still quite challenging and technically demanding and it’s going to be very hot so we’ll see what the weekend brings.”

Aston are towards the back of the pack at the moment but will be eager to get on the coat-tails of the likes of Haas, McLaren, Alfa Romeo and Alpine.

Time will tell whether they can make strides in terms of that this weekend, but Seb at least is sounding positive.
