Sebastian Vettel hilariously fails to open champagne bottle at Race of Champions
4-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel should know a thing or two about opening champagne bottles but it appears as though his knowledge deserted him at the Race of Champions over the weekend.
The Aston Martin star is inside the top 5 all-time race winners list in Formula 1, thanks to his dominant spell between 2010 and 2013, and in that time he certainly got used to spraying the bubbly.
Things have been a little drier on that side of things in more recent years, of course, but he was on the podium twice in 2021 at both Baku and Budapest, though a fuel infringement later stripped him of the latter.
Certainly, you’d think he still knows his way around a cork and bottle but, after finishing 2nd in the final race of the Race of Champions and being pipped by Sebastian Loeb for the Champion of Champions crown, Vettel’s attempt to celebrate soon become pretty farcical:
