Sebastian Vettel can't hide disappointment after testing weekend in Melbourne

Sebastian Vettel has said things cannot get any worse for him after a trying Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The German was back in the F1 paddock after missing the first two races of the season thanks to covid but it was far from the return he would have been hoping for.

Friday’s running was reduced thanks to an issue with the car whilst Saturday he saw an incident in practice that meant he could only get one lap in in qualifying, where he was eliminated in Q1.

Then, in the race, an off into the wall ended his Grand Prix there and then, and he admits it simply cannot get any worse for him looking back on the result:

“Obviously, I tried to get the best out of the car that I can and with hindsight maybe I was pushing too hard.

“Once I lost it there was no chance to come back.

“It was more challenging not to have the running, obviously partly because we lost time with the car, and then with the Saturday morning incidents so doesn’t help, but I’m sure it will get better.

“It can’t get any worse.”
