'Season over' - Manchester United fans deliver same damning verdict after Tottenham win

Manchester United supporters have declared the season over after watching top-four contenders West Ham and Tottenham pick up three points on Sunday afternoon.

United had a chance to make their mark in the ongoing race for Champions League qualification on Saturday afternoon. However, the Old Trafford giants were held to a 1-1 draw by mid-table Leicester - and it might have been worse. It was a result that offered encouragement to other contenders as West Ham edged past Everton before Tottenham produced a five-star display against Newcastle.

Ben Davies, Matt Doherty, Son Heung-min, Emerson Royal and Steven Bergwijn were all on target. That was enough to see Tottenham up to fourth place on 54 points.

However, north London rivals Arsenal remain in pole position. They're also on 54 points and one of their two games in hand comes against Crystal Palace on Monday night. West Ham and United are tied in 51 points - but the Hammers currently occupy sixth place on goal difference.

United are three points behind Tottenham having played the same number of matches. Next up for United is a trip to relegation-threatened Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Needless to say, results in the capital are proving to be a cause for concern at Old Trafford and beyond. Addressing the situation on social media, countless United supporters have declared their top-four pursuit over, while other fans have taken it as an opportunity to outline the ongoing search for a new manager.

United have yet to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a permanent successor. Here is a selection of comments on Sunday afternoon's results.
