Sean Payton Gives Cold-Blooded Answer When Asked About Russell Wilson

Now that the illustrious Sean Payton-Russell Wilson marriage is officially over, it's time to get down to business.

Let's be real – did Payton actually like Wilson? Did someone like Payton – the mastermind behind Bounty Gate (allegedly? Do we have to say that anymore?) really vibe with Mr. Unlimited?

Well, I reckon I don't have an actual concrete answer for you. But, I do have this little clip of Payton being asked about Russell Wilson for the first time this week at the league meetings, and he offered up maybe the quickest response in the history of responses:

I mean, goodness gracious. Sean Payton is just a cold-blooded killer. No two ways about it.

Our guy HATED Russell Wilson. Despised him. Frankly, I was stunned he took the Denver job in the first place, because those two personalities were never gonna vibe.

You think Sean Payton wants this guy leading his offense?

Yeah, no shot. That was dead on arrival. Like oil and water. Mix in the fact that Russ had his own office, his own parking space, and his own trainers, and I can't even imagine how annoyed Sean Payton was walking into that building last year.

Anyway, it was a terrible year for the Broncos – with a weird 5-game winning streak mixed in – and they ended up benching Mr. Unlimited late in the year so he wouldn't get hurt … so they could cut him without owing him any more money than they already did.

Long story short (kind of), the Broncos fired Russ earlier this month, and he's now in Pittsburgh. Not sure if Mike Tomlin is a much better fit, but we'll see.

I'm guessing … no.

As for Payton, I'd imagine he'll be much happier this season sans Russell Wilson – as long as the new QB doesn't take a billion sacks.
