Scouting, investment and a gym owner - Where Nottingham Forest's 2003 play-off squad are now

Nottingham Forest are 90 minutes away from reaching the Championship play-off final.

The Reds hold a 2-1 lead over Sheffield United thanks to goals from Jack Colback and Brennan Johnson before Sander Berge's consolatory headed goal for the Blades in stoppage time during the first-leg on Saturday. Forest will hope to continue the brilliant home form that has seen them rise up the league standings when Paul Heckingbottom's side visit for the second leg clash on Tuesday night.

Forest have lost just twice at home since Steve Cooper filled the head coach position toward the end of September 2021, on only two occasions have they also conceded more than once. Having taken the lead, the Reds have lost only twice.

As Cooper's side continue to prepare for the second-leg clash tonight, we have taken a look back to see what Forest's starting eleven from the 2002/03 play-off second-leg - when they lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Blades - are getting up to nowadays.

Born in Worksop, Darren Ward has played for every Football League club in Nottinghamshire: Mansfield Town (1992-1995), Notts County (1995-2001) and Nottingham Forest (2001-2004).

Ward appeared more than 250 times for Notts before moving to the other side of the River Trent to join Forest, where he made another 123 senior appearances.

The five-time Wales international retired from professional football in May 2009. He went into goalkeeping coaching with Peterborough United and then Sheffield United, but he left the Blades last year.
