Scott Parker confirms season-ending Bournemouth injury blow

The injury-hit season of Junior Stanislas is over after the Bournemouth winger suffered a fresh setback recently, Scott Parker has confirmed.

The Cherries are currently sitting in second position in the Championship, however Stanislas has barely played a part in the current campaign after featuring 35 times last season, scoring nine goals.

Having played in two of the first four league games of the season, the 32-year-old then missed two months of action due to a hamstring injury before briefly getting fit again – only to then miss another two months and then returning in December.

Another hamstring issue plagued the ex-West Ham United and Burnley man though in early January, ruling him out for a number of months but in his recovery, a new setback – this time a slipped disc in his back – has categorically curtailed his season.

It is a blow for not only Stanislas but also Parker, who would have been hoping to have the experience of the wide player available for potentially some important end of season matches.

“He’s got a problem with his back,” Parker said, per DorsetLive.

“We’ve tried to get some advice and treatment.

“He’s done everything he can but it is just a persistent one, really. The best call is just to shut this down and try to give him some oxygen. Then we will go from there.

“Everyone around Junior is trying to support him. He’s a guy with big experience, a guy with a big personality. But in saying that, it’s a psychological one when you’re injured. There’s nothing worse than being injured. Given the rhythm and the cycle Junior is in, I’m sure he’s thinking where’s the light?

“He’s a good guy and a good professional. He’ll be fine. Parking this season gives him that licence to put it to bed and to just get
