Saudi top group at 19th Asian Men’s U-20 Handball Championship
DUBAI: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday defeated Hong Kong 46-11 to finish top of Group A with a perfect record at the 19th Asian Men’s Junior U-20 Handball Championship.
The team secured their fifth consecutive victory in the continental championship being held in Suzhou, China, having already secured their qualification for the quarterfinals two matches earlier.
Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al-Qaid was named Man of the Match, as announced by the Saudi Handball Federation on its X account, the daily Arriyadiyah reported.
The championship features two groups of six teams, with the top four from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
Saudi Arabia will be joined by Bahrain, China, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, UAE, Iran, and Kuwait in the last eight.
The top four teams in the competition will qualify for the 2027 IHF Men’s Junior U-21 World Championship which will be held in North Macedonia.
