Saudi Arabian football chief praises ASEAN Football Federation 2022 Congress

RIYADH: President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation Yasser Al-Misehal praised the hosting of the 8th Congress of the ASEAN Football Federation in Siem Reap, Cambodia on Monday. Al-Misehal’s visit to the congress came as part of the Saudi Arabian Football Transformation Strategy’s Global Prominence campaign to grow Saudi Arabia’s influence on the continental and international football stage.

Al-Misehal — joined by SAFF General Secretary Ibrahim Al-Kassim — congratulated the AFF’s newly re-appointed president Maj. Gen.

Khiev Sameth on his unopposed re-election for a second term stretching till 2026, and was also full of praise for the Football Federation of Cambodia and its President Gen. Sao Sokha for the hospitality and generous welcome to the Cambodian city of Siem Reap over the past two days.

SAFF is looking to build on its strong ties and partnerships with ASEAN member countries and the rest of the Asian continent in order to promote the game across the region. The AFF council includes the national football associations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
