Saudi Arabia friendly is good test for Eagles — Adepoju

Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju, has charged the Super Eagles handler, Jose Peseiro, to use the international friendly game against Saudi Arabia slated for October 13 to blend the team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in November.

Adepoju, who applauded the Nigeria Football Federation for organising the international friendly for the Eagles ahead of the World Cup qualifier, declared that the team can get the World Cup ticket if the right measures are taken by assembling the best players for the qualifiers.

“The Super Eagles friendly game against Saudi Arabia is good for the team,” Adepoju said. “The Super Eagles need to be in the right condition to play the World Cup qualifiers. The major issue is for the coach to pick the right set of players that would play the qualifiers and blend the team well. After beating Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 in the AFCON qualifiers recently, earning victory against Saudi Arabia will assist put the Eagles in high spirit. I think Saudi Arabia is a good test for Eagles.”

Adepoju enjoined the NFF to continue giving the Eagles the best assistance to be successful in the World Cup qualifiers campaign saying: “Nigeria cannot afford to miss out in the 2026 World Cup after not competing at the last edition.”

Super Eagles would begin their World Cup qualifiers campaign in Uyo, on November 13, against Lesotho.

It would be recalled that Saudi Arabia scored one of the biggest World Cup upsets-ever by beating current World champions, Lionel Messi’s Argentina 2-1 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening group game.
