Saturday sport: GAA intercounty season begins with return of Allianz Football League

The new intercounty football season gets in full swing today with the Allianz Football Leagues.

In Division 1, All Ireland champions Dublin face Monaghan at Croke Park, while Tralee hosts the meeting of Kerry and Mickey Harte’s Derry.

Armagh begin life back in Division 2 with a home fixture against Louth.

Cullen Park is the venue for Kildare’s meeting with Cavan, while Meath welcome Fermanagh to Navan.

There’s a midlands derby in Division 4, with Laois playing Longford, while Tipperary play Carlow.

There’s one game in the top flight of the Lidl Women’s National League, with Galway playing Mayo from 3.15pm.

There are six more ties down for decision today in the FA Cup fourth round.

It's scoreless at Portman Road where Ipswich play non-League Maidstone.

At 3pm, Everton welcome Luton to Goodison Park, while Brighton go to Sheffield United.

At the same time, Leeds will entertain Plymouth and Leicester play Birmingham.

Fulham face Newcastle at Craven Cottage from 7pm.
