Sarah Lavin sets PB to progress to 100m hurdles final
Sarah Lavin set a personal best to book her place in the women's 100m hurdles final at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.
The world indoor finalist progressed to the semi-final by virtue of her top 12 ranking and set a time of 12.79 in finishing third to claim one of the two fastest qualifier spots on offer.
The Emerald AC athlete, who appeared in the World Championships semi-final last month, was placed in lane three in the second of the three semi-finals and was fast out of the blocks in tracking Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland and Hungary's Luca Kozak.
The front pair edged ahead, with Skrzyszowska winning in 12.66 and Kozak setting a national record of 12.69.
Lavin had an anxious wait for the third semi-final, but the PB, breaking the 12.84 she clocked in Cork earlier this season, was enough to see her through.
Lavin will return to the Olympiastadion for the final at 7.45pm.
