Sanele Nohamba completes move from Sharks to Lions

After dropping down the pecking order at the Sharks, scrumhalf Sanele Nohamba has completed a move to the Lions.

According to Rapport, Nohamba has signed a deal that will keep him at the Johannesburg-based franchise for three years.

Nohamba quickly made a name for himself when he burst on the scene in 2019 when he first played Currie Cup rugby for the Sharks.

The following year, he made the step up to Super Rugby, with the Sharks leading the tournament log before the Covid-19 pandemic eventually saw it cancelled.

Nohamba was also invited to a Springbok alignment camp in the lead up to the 2021 British and Irish Lions series.

The 23-year old, who represented the South African U20 team on five occasions, saw himself out of favour at the Sharks last year with the emergence of Jaden Hendrikse, in particular.

Of late, however, Grant Williams and Cameron Wright have been selected ahead of Nohamba as well.

The Lions also have excellent scrumhalf stocks in the form of  Morne van den Berg, Andre Warner and Nico Steyn all playing at various times for the franchise.
