San Diego Open: Iga Swiatek celebrates eighth title win of 2022 in style

Iga Świątek won her eighth title of 2022 on Monday when she beat Croatia’s Donna Vekić in the San Diego Open final.

Her success in California marks her fourth title on US soil this season, after previously winning at Indian Wells, the Miami Open, and the US Open.

Following her 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 win over Vekić, the world number one celebrated her victory in true style.

San Diego is known for its incredible surfing spots and boasts famous locations including Ocean Beach and Mission Beach.

Naturally, Świątek was presented with a surfboard as well as her trophy to honour her becoming the new San Diego Open champion.

After posing for some photos with the cup, the tennis star hopped onto the board and embraced her triumph on the Pacific coast.
